The Biggest Skincare Trends Coming in 2025
My Thoughts On Skincare in 2025
Skincare is constantly evolving, and as we move into 2025, there are some fascinating shifts happening in the industry. As a facialist and skincare specialist for nearly a decade, I’m always keeping an eye on what’s emerging—both in professional treatments and in everyday skincare routines. Some of these I am excited to see, and some I think will come and go, just as they have in years gone by (think slugging, coffee scrubs, 10 step routines, over-filled faces and peel-off masks). Here are the top trends I believe will define skincare in 2025.
1. The Rise of Exosomes in Skincare
Exosomes are going to be everywhere this year. These tiny extracellular vesicles act as messengers, carrying powerful molecules that help regenerate and repair skin. We’re already seeing them being used for anti-aging, but their benefits extend to hair loss, pigmentation, and even wound healing. Expect to see exosomes integrated into more advanced facial treatments, serums, and post-procedure recovery products.
2. Skincare Specifically Designed for Teens & Tweens
Younger generations are more interested in skincare than ever before, but the market hasn’t fully caught up with their needs. There’s a growing awareness that what works for adults isn’t always appropriate for younger, more delicate skin. In 2025, I predict we’ll see a rise in skincare products specifically formulated for teens and tweens—focusing on gentle, non-stripping, and effective ingredients that cater to their unique concerns without overcomplicating routines.
3. The Microbiome Boom
We’ve been hearing about the skin microbiome for a while, but this year, the conversation will expand even further. The focus won’t just be on topical skincare supporting the microbiome—it’ll also be about how internal health impacts our skin. Expect more products designed to support the skin barrier, along with a surge in supplements and probiotics targeting gut health as a way to improve overall skin function.
4. AI & Bioadaptive Skincare
AI-powered skincare tools are becoming more sophisticated, and we’re about to see major advancements in this space. Think personalised skincare analysers, AI-driven product recommendations, and even bioadaptive skincare—products that adjust their function based on environmental stressors like pollution, humidity, and temperature. This technology will make skincare routines even more tailored and effective.
5. The Shift to Skincare Minimalism
The days of 10-step routines may finally be coming to an end. More people are realising that overloading their skin with too many active ingredients can do more harm than good. In 2025, expect to see a push towards intentional skincare—streamlined, effective routines that focus on barrier health, hydration, and multi-purpose products. This trend extends to aesthetic treatments too, with a move away from excessive fillers and overly ‘done’ results in favor of natural, sculpted, and lifted skin.
6. ‘Ozempic Face’ & Skin Rejuvenation
With the increasing use of GLP-1 medications like Ozempic for weight loss, we’re seeing a rise in concerns around facial volume loss, skin laxity, and premature aging. On top of that, the trend of dissolving fillers is leaving some with stretched or depleted-looking skin. In 2025, I predict a surge in treatments focused on restoring skin structure naturally—think radiofrequency, microneedling, and collagen-boosting technologies to rebuild lost volume and keep skin firm and youthful.
Final Thoughts
Skincare is heading in an exciting direction in 2025, with a greater focus on personalisation, natural rejuvenation, and science-backed innovations. However, trends come and go, and it's important to stay consistent with what actually works for your skin rather than constantly chasing the latest fads. Maintaining a core skincare routine that supports your skin barrier, focusing on consistency over time, and incorporating holistic practices like lymphatic drainage and facial massage will always be key to long-term skin health and wellness.
Remember, these trends are speculative and not prescriptive advice—always choose what aligns with your skin’s needs and your personal approach to skincare. Which of these trends are you most excited about? Let me know in the comments or over on Instagram!
